As the 88th session of the Texas Legislature nears its end, a bill winding its way toward the finish line ‒ with the full support of El Paso's legislators ‒ could spell higher vehicle registration fees for area drivers. The Texas House of Representatives recently approved HB 78 , a bill that would allow the El Paso County Commissioners Court, as well as other border counties, to impose up to an additional $10 fee on registered vehicles in the county to be used for long-term transportation projects.
