EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The owner of a popular El Paso restaurant has been named one of the best chefs in Texas. Emilanio Marentes of the restaurant Elemi was selected as a finalist in advance of the prestigious James Beard Awards –- known by many as the Oscars of the food world. On Wednesday, the James Beard Foundation released its highly anticipated list of restaurant and chef nominees. Marentes is among a handful of other Texas chefs who are up for the award that honors outstanding achievement and exceptional culinary talent.
